December 7- 11, 2009
Organisers: Hamish Short, Christophe Pittet (LATP) and Antony Wassermann (IML)

This 5 day workshop will concentrate on the area between operator algebras, ergodic theory and geometric group theory. The purpose of the workshop is to encourage interactions between these areas, with expository lectures aimed at a general audience and accessible to advanced graduate students.

A timetable of the workshop is available here.

The following expository lectures have been organised:

- Nicolas Monod: Rigidity and ergodic theory (5 lectures)
- Pierre Julg: The Baum-Connes conjecture (3 lectures)
- Damien Gaboriau: Measurable equivalence relations (2 lectures)
- Stefaan Vaes: Rigidity and von Neumann algebras (2 lectures)

There will be additional talks by other participants in available afternoon slots.
